This article addresses increasing the capacity of email accounts on the hosting service. If you need to check the size, follow the guide Emails – Mailbox usage check.
In this article you will learn:
- How to increase email mailbox storage
- How to reduce email mailbox storage
- Common issues
- Frequently asked questions
Increasing email mailbox storage
If you need to increase the size of mailboxes on the email service, first decide what final capacity you require:
- 10 – 500 GB: For relatively low capacities, we recommend the standard increase described below.
- 1 – 5 TB: For high capacities, we recommend the Business plan, which also offers other benefits, such as higher limits for sending emails. More information can be found on the product page for the Mailhosting service ⧉.
For a standard increase in email mailbox storage, follow these steps:
- Log in to the customer administration ⧉.
- In the top menu, select Hosting services Mailhosting, Webhosting, WebSite, or WMS.
- Select the specific service from the list for which you want to increase the mailboxes.
- In the left menu, click on Add-on services.
- In the overview of add-on services, click the green button (if this is the first increase), or the magnifying glass icon next to Increase email storage by 5 GB.
- Select or change the number of activations of the add-on service. Each activation adds the stated amount of storage to the total email storage.
- Click the Activate or Change button.
Adjust email capacity:

The setting will take effect within 30 minutes.
The payment request will be generated and sent by the system within 1 business day.
Business plan for email
When the Business plan is activated, the system automatically deactivates the existing extension Increase email storage by 5 GB. Funds already paid for this service will be deducted from the first payment for the plan increase until it is reduced to zero. From the next billing period onward, the price is calculated normally.
Activating the Business plan itself differs for Webhosting, Hosting WP and Mailhosting services:
- Webhosting and Hosting WP: Follow the instructions above, but instead of the service Increase email storage by 5 GB, select Upgrade email services to the Business variant. Authorize the change via SMS.
Activate the Business plan of the service:
- Mailhosting: Change the service plan according to the following instructions:
- Log in to the customer administration ⧉.
- In the top menu, select Hosting services Mailhosting or Hosting WP.
- Select the specific service from the list for which you want to increase the mailboxes.
- In the left menu, click Change variant.
- Use the Select button to choose the Business plan.
- Confirm the change with the Change variant button.
- Authorize the change via SMS.
SMS authorization of email plan change
If you do not have a verified phone number set for the customer account, enter and verify it in the customer administration ⧉.
For security reasons and to prevent misuse of customer services, the system requires SMS code authorization to set the Business plan. After requesting the variant change, follow these steps:
- Check the phone number of the customer account owner (the page will suggest it to you).
- Within 10 minutes of requesting the change, enter the code from the SMS into the field.
- Click the Confirm and perform button.

The setting will take effect within 30 minutes.
The payment request will be generated and sent by the system within 1 business day.
Reducing email mailbox storage
The system allows reducing mailbox storage only if the volume of emails on the server does not exceed the new capacity. If the Email size value in the system does not match reality, contact support via the form ⧉ and request a recalculation.
If you want to reduce the increase, or cancel it completely, open the add-on service management interface the same way as when activating the increase. In the add-on service settings then:
- reduce the number of activations by clicking the change link in the Add-on service information table and select the new number of add-on activations, or
- deactivate the add-on service by clicking the Deactivate button and confirming deactivation.

Common issues
Common problems when increasing and decreasing mailbox capacity include:
- An incorrect value is shown in the administration
- Mailboxes are still 100% full after increasing capacity
- Mailbox capacity cannot be reduced
Incorrect mailbox capacity value
Problem: After increasing capacity, the original (incorrect) value is still shown in the administration.
Cause: The mailbox increase usually appears within half an hour. The administration also shows two different values – mailbox capacity (maximum volume of emails) and usage (current volume of emails).
Solution: After making the change, wait for it to be applied. Also make sure you are checking the capacity in the correct place – you can find it in the limits according to the guide Emails – Domain, permissions, limits.
Individual mailboxes remain full
Problem: After increasing capacity, some (or all) mailboxes are still 100% full.
Cause: Capacity can also be set for individual mailboxes.
Solution: Check the settings of individual mailboxes according to the guide Emails – Mailboxes.
Capacity cannot be reduced
Problem: When trying to reduce capacity, an error message appears saying that there are more emails in the mailboxes than corresponds to the new capacity.
Cause: If the mailboxes were cleaned recently, the system probably has not yet recalculated the volume of emails.
Solution: Contact support via the form and request a check and, if necessary, a manual recalculation of the capacity in the system.
Frequently asked questions
I need more than 510 GB of storage for email. How can I achieve that?
Increase the hosting to the Business plan on Webhosting or Mailhosting. WMS and WebSite do not currently support this plan.
